Field Service Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and oversee predictive and preventative maintenance programs for customers with installed equipment.

• Conduct site assessments, oversee equipment installation, startup, testing, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance of power distribution, control, and automation systems.

• Manage and support commissioning, upgrades, and modernization projects.

• Diagnose, service, and repair paralleling switchgear, automatic transfer switches, control systems, and associated mechanical equipment at customer locations.

• Complete field projects on time while adhering to customer functional, safety, quality, and performance standards.

• Collaborate with the local Field Service team and headquarters in Langley, BC, Canada.

• Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers and vendors.

• Follow up on customer inquiries and ensure issues are resolved.

• Monitor and submit field service and expense reports.

• Assist the Technical Call Desk with diagnostics, troubleshooting, and providing technical advice.

• Adhere to testing and maintenance protocols for breakers, switchgear, relays, and control and automation equipment.

• Conduct technical training sessions for customers, partners, and employees.

• Execute quality assurance reviews of engineering drawings.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of practical experience in performing preventive and predictive maintenance on power distribution and control equipment, or a comparable combination of education and experience.

• Experience in installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, as well as electrical, control, and automation equipment.

• Familiarity with health, safety, and electrical codes and standards, including CSA, NFPA, and UL requirements.

• Competence with email, internet, data entry, Microsoft Word, Excel, OneNote, smartphones, and mobile applications.

• Ability to read and interpret detailed electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.

• Strong customer service focus with a professional, solution-oriented approach in the field.

• NETA or NICET certification (ETT Level II or higher) is highly preferred.

• OSHA 30-Hour, MSHA, and NFPA 70E training is preferred.

• Experience in starting up and commissioning low- and medium-voltage generator paralleling switchgear.

• In-depth knowledge of switchgear, automatic transfer switches, circuit breakers, and generators.

• Advanced understanding of metering, protective relaying, relay ladder logic, PLCs, and HMIs.

• Willingness to travel up to 50%.
