This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Develop, execute, and oversee predictive and preventative maintenance initiatives for customers in the Edgerton, WI area.
• Carry out all facets of field service operations, encompassing site evaluations, equipment installation, start-up, testing, commissioning, and continuous maintenance of power distribution, control, and automation systems.
• Lead and facilitate intricate commissioning, upgrades, and modernization tasks, ensuring systems are configured, validated, and functioning according to specifications before handing over to the customer.
• Conduct advanced troubleshooting, servicing, and repair tasks on paralleling switchgear, automatic transfer switches (ATS), control systems, and associated mechanical equipment, leveraging hands-on technical skills to identify and resolve issues at customer locations.
• Complete assigned field projects punctually, fulfilling all customer requirements related to functionality, safety, quality, and performance.
• Work collaboratively with the local Field Service team and Thomson Power Systems (TPS) headquarters in Langley, BC, Canada, to ensure alignment, consistency, and operational excellence.
• Establish and nurture robust relationships with customers and vendors, providing a high standard of technical service, professionalism, and responsiveness.
• Deliver prompt and detailed responses to customer inquiries, ensuring clear communication and effective resolution of issues.
• Accurately monitor and submit project documentation, including field service reports and expense reports, in a timely manner.
• Assist the Technical Call Desk by providing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and technical support to customers.
• Follow established testing and maintenance protocols for breakers, switchgear, relays, and control and automation equipment to ensure safety, compliance, and reliability.
• Facilitate technical training programs for customers, partners, and employees on both new and existing products.
• Conduct quality assurance evaluations of engineering drawings to ensure accuracy, constructability, and compliance with specifications.
• Over 5 years of hands-on experience in performing preventive and predictive maintenance on power distribution and control equipment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven experience in installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, and related electrical, control, and automation equipment.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant health, safety, and electrical codes and standards, including CSA, NFPA, and UL regulations.
• Proficient in using general PC tools such as email, internet, data entry, Microsoft Word, Excel, and OneNote, as well as the capability to use smartphones and mobile applications for daily work tasks.
• Ability to accurately read and interpret detailed electrical schematics and mechanical drawings with confidence.
• Strong customer service focus, demonstrating a professional, solutions-oriented approach in the field.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% as necessary based on customer and business requirements.
