This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.
• Perform tasks to achieve assigned goals.
• Conduct installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on electrical distribution systems.
• Engage with both internal and external clients through phone and email to arrange upcoming jobs and procure necessary materials.
• Carry out safety assessments and documentation before commencing work.
• Actively manage project execution, including startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, engineering, design, and repair of Power Delivery systems.
• Collaborate with other field engineers, technicians, and contractors during outages, fulfilling roles such as project management, lead site engineer, or site project manager.
• Execute administrative tasks like composing technical reports, ordering supplies, obtaining quotes, preparing job status updates, reports for clients, and completing time sheets and expense reports thoroughly and punctually.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, with a preference for Electrical or Mechanical disciplines (OR a High School Diploma / GED alongside 4 additional years of related engineering/field/technical experience).
• A minimum of 2 years of field engineering experience or comparable experience, such as military service, is preferred.
• Capability to handle and move circuit breakers and other installed equipment weighing several hundred pounds.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 75% as needed.
• Must possess and maintain a valid passport and driver's license.
• Familiarity with the industrial customer base in the relevant geographical area is preferred.
• Technical expertise in testing power distribution and delivery systems, including Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Breakers, Switchgear, Relays, and Transformers, is preferred.
• Experience in the repair and refurbishment of LV and MV circuit breakers from OEMs such as Siemens, GE, ABB, Square D, Multilin relays, and Switzer Relays is preferred.
• Technical skills in testing, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of medium voltage synchronous machines (including excitation systems), control systems, and Programmable Logic Controllers are a plus.
• Candidates must already possess work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in the US.
