Field Service Engineer – Turbomachinery

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

📋 Description

• Oversees, guides, and manages Elliott staff, customer personnel, and contracted labor during the start-up, repair, maintenance, or overhaul of equipment.

• Functions in the capacity of Site Manager while directing field operations on both Elliott and non-Elliott equipment.

• Applies hands-on practical experience with laser metrology tools, such as laser trackers, to guarantee accurate alignment and measurement specifications.

• Engages in technical job preparation, engineering planning, and issues work method statements for field projects.

• Investigates product issues, including customer complaints and thermodynamic/mechanical performance challenges.

• Implements corrective actions as directed or collaborates with the Field Service Manager to propose solutions to both the customer and within Elliott.

• Offers technical guidance and supports Field Service personnel on other assignments as needed.

• Conducts experimental programs aimed at developing modifications for field equipment.

• Ensures that all tasks are executed safely to prevent injury to personnel or damage to equipment, maintaining strict adherence to safety, quality, and schedule standards.

• Follows instructions and guidelines as outlined in the quality and Environmental Health Safety (EHS) management systems.

• Engages in safety planning and detailing for major projects, including hazard identification and mitigation for all tasks related to job responsibilities.

• Prepares and conducts daily toolbox talks for site crews.

• Anticipates project needs, schedules expenditures, reduces costs, and evaluates variances.

• Assists in the quotation process and invoicing for major projects that impact business profitability.

• Minimizes installation back charges from customers and/or mechanical contractors through sound judgment and prompt actions.

• Manages local purchasing needs while on-site.

• Makes courtesy calls to customers to check inventory, promote parts sales, inspect new shipments, and sell services alongside the Service Sales Engineer.

• Communicates effectively with the Field Service Manager and Support Engineers, providing timely and thorough updates on work performed, quality, performance, equipment issues, customer feedback, and future sales opportunities.

• Issues detailed Service Reports within two weeks of job completion, clearly documenting specific occurrences with dates and names of individuals involved in the service performed.

• Contributes directly to Product Engineering and design by offering innovative ideas to enhance product design and functionality, improve service, and resolve issues.

• Delivers technical training to both customer personnel and internal staff; demonstrates the ability to lead discussions in training sessions and meetings.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a comparable combination of education and experience.

• At least 10 years of experience in the field of turbomachinery and rotating equipment.

• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with laser metrology devices (such as laser trackers).

• Demonstrated expertise in project management.

• Strong mechanical and thermodynamic understanding of rotating machinery, as well as extensive knowledge of electrical and digital systems.

• In-depth knowledge of Elliott product specifications and features—including design and manufacturing principles and operational processes—as well as those of similar equipment manufacturers.

• Comprehensive understanding of industry standards, practices, and system processes relevant to heavy industry.

• Proficient in reading and interpreting drawings, technical documentation, blueprints, layouts, and schedules, as well as writing professional technical documents.

• Must be legally based in the UAE with a suitable home office setup for remote administrative tasks.

• Must be fully willing to work in remote camps, on offshore platforms, and in non-industrialized countries; tropical fitness is essential.

• Highly adaptable with a proven ability to manage a wide range of challenges, diverse customers, and unpredictable site conditions.
