
Field Service Engineer – Microscopy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Switzerland.
• Install and commission advanced microscopy systems at client locations.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and calibrate systems.
• Diagnose and repair issues related to mechanical, electrical, vacuum, and software components.
• Troubleshoot intricate system failures and implement corrective measures.
• Execute upgrades and modifications on existing systems.
• Offer technical support and training to clients including scientists, lab technicians, and engineers.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for designated accounts.
• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through professional service delivery.
• Maintain comprehensive service documentation and reports.
• Manage service schedules, inventory of parts, and travel arrangements.
• Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with internal teams such as R&D, technical support, and sales to resolve issues.
• Support remote diagnostics and utilize digital service tools.
• Identify recurring issues and recommend product or service enhancements.
• Participate in technical training to stay updated with new technologies.
• Share knowledge and best practices within the service organization.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in: Electrical Engineering.
• Mechanical Engineering.
• Physics or Applied Physics.
• Mechatronics or a related field.
• 2–5+ years of experience in field service, preferably with: Confocal microscopy.
• Analytical instruments or lab equipment.
• Strong understanding of: Electronics and electromechanical systems.
• Imaging systems and optics.
• Software system setup.
• Ability to interpret schematics and technical manuals.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software systems.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Strong communication and customer interaction skills.
• Capability to work independently in remote settings.
• Willingness to travel extensively (up to 70–80%).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to operate in laboratory and cleanroom environments.
• Good knowledge of German and/or French and English.
