This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.
• Perform on-site installations of advanced equipment and execute testing protocols to guarantee optimal functionality.
• Carry out scheduled planned maintenance visits on-site.
• Offer diagnostic and repair assistance to clients and fellow field staff.
• Foster and nurture positive working relationships with clients, system users, and company colleagues.
• Travel frequently, often with little notice, to client locations to troubleshoot issues or support other service personnel.
• Complete and submit field service documentation.
• Deliver training to clients and users regarding system maintenance.
• Provide constructive feedback to product quality teams.
• Contribute relevant input in writing to update and correct various Thermo Fisher system documentation.
• Offer guidance for different reports, including identifying and isolating significant system issues.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for training purposes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline, or 4+ years of equivalent education and experience in electronic systems.
• Practical technical experience in the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of advanced analytical tools such as SEM, TEM, FIB, or similar systems.
• In-depth knowledge and extensive experience in diagnosing and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems.
• Proven ability to effectively interact with customers.
• Exceptional interpersonal communication skills; must possess professional working proficiency in English.
• Consistent history of resolving complex systems and subsystems at the component level.
• Proficient in MS DOS and Windows software environments.
• Capable of reading and interpreting schematics.
• Familiarity with UHV phenomena and technologies.
• Must be able to obtain a valid passport and travel regionally and internationally as needed.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license.
• Physical requirements include the capacity to lift up to 50 lbs and the ability to walk a minimum of 10,000 steps per day.
• Compliance with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards.
• Cleanroom procedures to uphold hygiene and safety.
• Some level of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
