This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Serve as a representative of Oxford Instruments by providing exceptional technical support, installation, and maintenance for plasma etching and deposition equipment.
• Oversee the installation and commissioning of cutting-edge plasma etch and deposition systems, ensuring adherence to customer specifications, cleanroom standards, and process readiness.
• Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance with accuracy. Identify root causes beyond surface symptoms and verify repairs against rigorous vacuum tolerances, leak-up rates, and process standards.
• Foster trust and long-lasting relationships through prompt communication and practical training.
• Address intricate hardware and software challenges using specialized tools. Offer remote assistance as necessary to minimize downtime and enhance operational uptime.
• Calibrate essential components and execute performance-enhancing upgrades to guarantee optimal system reliability and throughput.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
• Equivalent hands-on experience in the service of semiconductor equipment may be considered as a substitute.
• 3–5 years of field service experience within the semiconductor industry, particularly focused on plasma etch and deposition systems.
• Knowledge of cleanroom operations and safety procedures.
• Practical experience with vacuum technologies: turbo pumps, cryogenic pumps, and roughing pumps.
• Proficient in troubleshooting 208V electrical systems and 24V control subsystems.
• Experienced with diagnostic instruments such as vacuum leak detectors, RF power meters, digital voltmeters (DVMs), LCR meters, multimeters, and megohm meters.
• Solid understanding of RF theory and inductively coupled plasma (ICP) systems.
• Familiar with semiconductor processes including RIE, PECVD, ICP, and ALD.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, a passport, and the ability to travel independently.
• Should be physically agile and comfortable working in tight or awkward spaces.
• Must be capable of lifting and handling equipment weighing up to 50 lbs independently.
• Willingness to engage in extensive weekday travel to support customer installations and service requirements, Monday through Friday.
