Field Service Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Develops engineering solutions across various domains such as operations, product development, construction, and maintenance to boost efficiency and performance.

• Evaluates engineering processes and identifies opportunities to enhance system reliability, safety, and cost-efficiency.

• Applies multidisciplinary engineering practices to maximize functionality and ensure adherence to industry standards.

• Serves as the lead engineer for on-site field projects, providing supervision for the installation of accessories.

• Designs comprehensive cable system solutions, which include cables, accessories, link boxes, and fiber optic components for voltage classes ranging from 69kV to 500kV.

• Engages in the development of specifications, proposals for contracts, licensing, and safety documentation.

• Acts as the technical lead on design elements of High Voltage project execution, collaborating with Southwire’s Field Services and Manufacturing teams.

• Represents the High Voltage Engineering group in meetings and conferences, interacting with customers to deliver training seminars.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's degree

• Specialized Degree: Electrical/Mechanical Engineering

• Years of Experience: 5+ years

• Field of Expertise: Field operations, with a preference for HV cable systems

• Familiarity with the requirements of ICEA, AEIC, IEC, and IEEE standards

• Proficient in software applications such as CYMCAP, SolidWorks Pro, AutoCAD, Matlab, and the Microsoft Office Suite

• Strong technical writing skills and excellent communication abilities

• Capable of reading and interpreting engineering drawings

• Mentor junior field engineers by sharing best practices, troubleshooting techniques, and industry insights to promote professional growth and enhance team performance.
