This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with the engineering team to guarantee the successful broadcasting of K-LOVE's programming with the highest quality through expert installation, maintenance, operation, updates, and detailed repairs.

• Oversee the operation, testing, and upkeep of sophisticated broadcast equipment, including audio processors, transmission systems, EAS equipment, receivers, monitors, electrical systems, while optimizing signal and sound in accordance with Ministry guidelines.

• Foster a culture of excellence by pinpointing opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, and efficiency, focusing particularly on IP-based, modern microwave, and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite solutions.

• Act as a primary expert in diagnosing and troubleshooting complex technical issues on equipment and systems down to the component level, employing advanced analytical techniques.

• Collaborate and communicate with engineers (including contract engineers) to achieve critical objectives.

• Act as a dedicated mentor and escalation point for junior Broadcast Engineers, enhancing their technical expertise and professional growth.

• Complete and submit all necessary administrative documentation accurately, including but not limited to timecards, expense reports, vehicle logs, budgeting documents, and other relevant records by specified deadlines.

• Utilize and maintain designated asset management, work order, and ticketing system software to log activities, track inventory, and update statuses effectively.

• Respond quickly and professionally to emails, texts, and phone calls, ensuring clear and timely communication regarding operational status, project updates, and other work-related matters.

• Keep organized digital and physical records as required for compliance and operational continuity.

• Maintain an expert-level understanding of FCC rules and regulations, ensuring that all equipment and operations comply with safety standards.

• Actively promote K-LOVE's Injury Prevention and Safety program, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols.

• Conduct mandatory, thorough on-site visits to each assigned transmitter site at least once every quarter.

• Provide immediate and expert response for unforeseen outages, emergency repairs, and critical events necessitating on-site presence.

• Conduct essential maintenance and troubleshooting on non-broadcast equipment (e.g., generators, HVAC, minor electrical/plumbing) to ensure complete site functionality.

• Make necessary trips to remote sites for intricate installations or critical repairs, or to K-LOVE Campus for specialized training or leadership on projects.

• Perform other assigned duties.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical studies in electronics, broadcast communications, or a related field; OR a minimum of five years of directly related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education.

• SBE Certification is highly desirable.

• At least 6+ years of demonstrated expert-level experience in troubleshooting, installing, repairing, and maintaining complex broadcast electronic equipment, or comparable relevant experience.

• Comprehensive understanding of broadcast air-chain components, including complex system interactions and IP-based signal distribution.

• Intermediate networking skills (TCP/IP, routing, switching) with the ability to diagnose common network issues.

• Advanced understanding of modern microwave and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technologies and their integration.

• In-depth knowledge of radio frequency (RF) emissions, interference mitigation, and regulatory compliance, serving as an escalation point for complex RF issues.

• Expertise in soldering and desoldering electronic components, including precision work.

• Extensive knowledge of applicable broadcast-related FCC rules and regulations.

• Ability to perform complex calculations for common broadcast-related formulas.

• Advanced proficiency with standard broadcast testing equipment (VOMs, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers).

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other common software.

• Proven ability to systematically and logically address multiple, highly complex technical problems, often requiring innovative solutions.

• Ability to apply sophisticated common-sense understanding to execute complex instructions and think strategically from abstract problems to practical solutions.

• Exemplary communication skills characterized by grace, respect, and humility; strong capacity to listen, provide constructive feedback, and positively influence others.
