• Collaborate with the engineering team to guarantee that K-LOVE's programming is broadcasted effectively and at the highest quality through proficient installation, maintenance, operation, updates, and detailed repairs.
• Oversee the operation, testing, and maintenance of sophisticated broadcast equipment such as audio processors, transmission systems, EAS gear, receivers, monitors, electrical systems, while optimizing signal and sound in accordance with Ministry guidelines.
• Foster a culture of excellence by recognizing opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, and efficiency, particularly focusing on IP-based technologies, modern microwave solutions, and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite systems.
• Act as a key expert in diagnosing and resolving intricate technical issues on equipment and systems down to the component level, using advanced analytical techniques.
• Collaborate and communicate with engineers (including contract engineers) to achieve critical objectives.
• Serve as a dedicated mentor and escalation point for junior Broadcast Engineers, enhancing their technical knowledge and promoting professional growth.
• Complete and submit all necessary administrative documentation accurately, including but not limited to timecards, expense reports, vehicle logs, budget documents, and other pertinent records by specified deadlines.
• Utilize and manage designated asset management, work order, and ticketing system software to log activities, monitor inventory, and efficiently update status.
• Respond swiftly and professionally to emails, texts, and phone calls, ensuring clear and timely communication regarding operational status, project updates, and other work-related matters.
• Maintain organized digital and physical records as required for compliance and operational continuity.
• Uphold an expert-level understanding of FCC regulations, ensuring all equipment and operations comply and adhere to safety standards.
• Actively promote K-LOVE's Injury Prevention and Safety program, ensuring strict compliance with safety protocols.
• Conduct mandatory, thorough on-site visits to each assigned transmitter site at least once every quarter.
• Provide immediate and expert assistance for unplanned outages, emergency repairs, and critical events that necessitate on-site presence.
• Carry out essential maintenance and troubleshooting on non-broadcast equipment (e.g., generators, HVAC, minor electrical/plumbing) to ensure complete site functionality.
• Undertake necessary trips to remote sites for intricate installations or critical repairs, or to K-LOVE Campus for specialized training or leadership on projects.
• Execute other duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical studies in electronics, broadcast communications, or a related field; OR a minimum of five years of directly related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education. SBE Certification is highly desirable.
• At least 6+ years of proven expert-level experience in troubleshooting, installing, repairing, and maintaining complex broadcast electronic equipment, or comparable relevant experience.
• Comprehensive understanding of broadcast air-chain components, including complex system interactions and IP-based signal distribution.
• Intermediate networking skills (TCP/IP, routing, switching) and the ability to diagnose common network issues.
• Advanced knowledge of modern microwave and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technologies and their integration.
• In-depth understanding of radio frequency (RF) emissions, interference mitigation, and regulatory compliance, serving as an escalation point for complex RF challenges.
• Expertise in soldering and desoldering electronic components, including precision work.
• Extensive knowledge of applicable broadcast-related FCC rules and regulations.
• Ability to perform complex calculations for common broadcast-related formulas.
• Advanced proficiency with standard broadcast testing equipment (VOMs, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other common software applications.
• Demonstrated ability to systematically and logically address multiple, highly complex technical problems, often requiring innovative solutions.
• Capability to apply sophisticated common-sense understanding to execute complex instructions and think strategically from abstract problems to practical solutions.
