This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• This role involves servicing the New York area and its surroundings.

• Collaborate with the engineering team to guarantee that K-LOVE's programming is broadcast effectively and with superior quality through expert installation, maintenance, operation, updates, and complex repairs.

• Oversee the operation, testing, and maintenance of sophisticated broadcast equipment, including audio processors, transmission systems, EAS equipment, receivers, monitors, electrical systems, and optimize signal and sound in accordance with Ministry guidelines.

• Foster a culture of excellence by identifying ways to improve system performance, reliability, and efficiency, particularly focusing on IP-based, modern microwave, and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite solutions.

• Act as a primary expert in diagnosing and resolving intricate technical faults on equipment and systems down to the component level, employing advanced analytical techniques.

• Collaborate and communicate with engineers (including contract engineers) to achieve essential goals.

• Act as a dedicated mentor and escalation resource for junior Broadcast Engineers, enhancing their technical skills and professional growth.

• Complete and submit all necessary administrative documentation accurately, including but not limited to timecards, expense reports, vehicle logs, budgeting documents, and other relevant records by set deadlines.

• Utilize and maintain designated asset management, work order, and ticketing system software to log activities, track inventory, and update status effectively.

• Respond quickly and professionally to emails, texts, and phone calls, ensuring clear and timely communication regarding operational status, project updates, and other work-related matters.

• Keep organized digital and physical records as needed for compliance and operational continuity.

• Maintain an expert-level comprehension of FCC rules and regulations, ensuring that all equipment and operations comply with safety standards.

• Actively promote K-LOVE's Injury Prevention and Safety program, ensuring strict adherence to safety guidelines.

• Conduct mandatory and thorough on-site visits to each assigned transmitter site at least once per quarter.

• Provide immediate and expert response for unforeseen outages, emergency repairs, and critical events that necessitate on-site presence.

• Perform essential maintenance and troubleshooting on non-broadcast equipment (e.g., generators, HVAC, minor electrical/plumbing) to ensure complete site functionality.

• Make necessary trips to remote sites for complex installations or critical repairs, or to K-LOVE Campus for specialized training or project leadership.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical studies in electronics, broadcast communications, or a related field; OR a minimum of five years of directly related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education.

• SBE Certification is highly desirable.

• A minimum of 6+ years of proven expert-level experience in troubleshooting, installing, repairing, and maintaining complex broadcast electronic equipment, or comparable relevant experience.

• Comprehensive understanding of broadcast air-chain components, including complex system interactions and IP-based signal distribution.

• Intermediate networking skills (TCP/IP, routing, switching) and the ability to diagnose common network issues.

• Advanced knowledge of modern microwave and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technologies and their integration.

• In-depth understanding of radio frequency (RF) emissions, interference mitigation, and regulatory compliance, serving as an escalation point for complex RF challenges.

• Expertise in soldering and desoldering electronic components, including precision work.

• Extensive knowledge of applicable broadcast-related FCC rules and regulations.

• Ability to perform complex calculations for common broadcast-related formulas.

• Advanced proficiency with standard broadcast test equipment (VOMs, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers).

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other common software.

• Proven ability to systematically and logically address multiple, highly complex technical issues, often requiring innovative solutions.

• Capability to apply sophisticated common-sense understanding to execute complex instructions and think strategically from abstract problems to practical solutions.

• Exceptional communication skills characterized by grace, respect, and humility; strong ability to listen, provide constructive feedback, and positively influence others.
