This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Conduct reactive maintenance on highways technology equipment, encompassing Signs, Signals, Traffic Signals, CCTV, Emergency Roadside Telephones, Queue Protection, traffic counting equipment (including Radar), and Weather Stations.
• Execute planned cyclic maintenance following client specifications, manufacturer guidelines, and British Standards.
• Perform electronic diagnostic assessments on highways communications assets to identify and resolve faults.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation detailing maintenance activities, fault findings, upgrades, and asset conditions.
• Offer expert technical guidance to colleagues, clients, and contractors regarding procedures, issues, and best practices.
• Assist in project administration and oversight, including progress monitoring, resource allocation, and adherence to regulations.
• Collaborate with third parties (contractors, suppliers, local authorities) during the implementation and integration of new highways communications infrastructure.
• Engage in system upgrades, technological enhancements, and the commissioning of new equipment.
• Manage asset inventory and provide support during emergency responses to critical incidents impacting highway technology systems.
• Contribute to health and safety compliance by conducting risk assessments and adhering to safe working practices.
• Participate in training initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and pursue continuous professional development to remain current with industry advancements.
• Organise daily tasks as designated by the Works Coordinator to ensure completion within client-set timelines.
• As a Lone Worker, consistently adhere to Health and Safety regulations.
• Be available to volunteer for night shifts when necessary.
• Possession of a full UK driving licence.
• Knowledge of highways communication and electrical assets.
• Strong planning and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team.
• Proficient in problem-solving.
• IT literate.
• Self-motivated and proactive in delivering solutions.
• A relevant qualification in an electrical or engineering field (Desirable).
• Experience in highways technology or a related area (Desirable).
• 2391 Test and Inspection certification (Desirable).
• Familiarity with 18th Edition wiring regulations (Desirable).
