• Assists in the deployment, performance, and customer satisfaction of GovComm Wrong Way Vehicle Detection Systems (WWVDS), GovComm cameras, and Carmanah traffic safety products.
• Collaborates closely with sales, engineering, and customers to ensure that systems are accurately specified, installed, tested, and functioning as intended in real-world environments.
• Accountable for providing technical support, system validation, and customer training.
• Involves direct interaction with agencies, contractors, and distributors to troubleshoot problems, enhance system performance, and facilitate product adoption.
• Requires about 50% travel and may involve occasional evening or nighttime work to assist with field testing and commissioning of wrong way detection systems under live traffic conditions.
• Conducts on-site commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of WWVDS and cameras alongside contractors, agencies, and engineers.
• Engages with existing and potential clients to evaluate and comprehend their needs concerning WWVDS and Carmanah traffic safety solutions.
• Offers technical support and guidance to customers through inbound phone calls, emails, and tickets.
• Aids in continuous improvement of products and deployments, ensuring customer requirements are met while also suggesting suitable configurations, layouts, and possible product modifications.
• Serves as a subject matter expert on WWVDS, encompassing system functionality, detection accuracy, false positive mitigation, and integration with traffic infrastructure.
• Participates in field testing, validation, and commissioning, including after-hours and evening work to replicate real-world conditions and guarantee system precision.
• Proposes system configurations, layouts, and enhancements based on field performance and client needs.
• Contributes to research, development, and validation of new products and improvements related to WWVDS and intelligent transportation systems (ITS).
• Designs and delivers technical training to distributors, agencies, and contractors regarding installation, configuration, and maintenance of the products.
• Develops and maintains training materials such as presentations, installation guides, troubleshooting documentation, and video content.
• Works collaboratively across departments with engineering, product management, and sales teams to support product launches and ongoing enhancements.
• Travels up to 50% to facilitate customer meetings, field deployments, system testing, and training activities across various project sites.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
• Over 5 years of experience in technical sales, field applications engineering, or related product support roles.
• The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the traffic / ITS industry.
