This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
β’ Conduct system and feature-oriented hardware, software, and machine vision field assessments of mechatronic farming machinery. Ensure comprehensive documentation of test procedures and outcomes.
β’ Offer on-site engineering assistance for ML data gathering and field evaluations, including troubleshooting, diagnosing, resolving, and documenting all pertinent details.
β’ Record customer feedback, observations, and concerns regarding John Deere and Blue River Technology products and equipment, and relay this information to Product Management, Agronomy, and Engineering teams.
β’ Execute hands-on setup, maintenance, testing, and customization in the field according to engineering testing specifications.
β’ Recommend design alternatives and assist in the development of new features and tools based on insights gained from initial product testing.
β’ Aid Product and Engineering teams in producing product documentation, instructions, and guides.
β’ Collaborate with host cooperators to seamlessly integrate testing and ML data collection machinery into productive workflows, managing necessary contracts and agreements as required.
β’ Assist Field management with the training, oversight, and quality assurance of seasonal field personnel, as well as testing and data collection efforts.
β’ Transport and operate equipment related to field testing and ML data collection as necessary.
β’ Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in Engineering, Computer Science, Agriculture, or a related technical field.
β’ Over 2 years of experience in supporting and maintaining agricultural electro-mechanical systems.
β’ Proficient in troubleshooting and working with intricate systems that include software, electronics, and mechanical components.
β’ Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
β’ Competent in basic software applications, including G-Suite, Jira, Confluence, Excel, PowerPoint, and others.
β’ Capable of setting targets, developing and implementing plans, and achieving results.
β’ Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues who may have limited knowledge of agricultural and construction industry contexts.
β’ Capability to engage positively with diverse personality types, fostering trusted professional relationships both within and outside of the BRT and Deere organizations.
β’ Strong customer-facing skills and a team-oriented attitude.
β’ Willingness to travel extensively, ranging from 30-90%, based on project requirements and the season. Most travel will involve fieldwork, providing hands-on support, with occasional international travel opportunities.
β’ Experience with large agricultural machinery and equipment in a field setting.
β’ Demonstrate a high level of personal and professional integrity.
β’ All necessary tools, equipment, and vehicles are provided by the employer.
