• Contacting animal owners (including those with horses, beef cattle, small ruminants, wildlife, poultry, and companion animals) to assess their current feeding strategies and provide recommendations for their nutritional programs.
• Engaging in sales and consulting directly at the farm (up to 25 visits per week) with the objective of promoting Purina products and programs through partner dealers, thereby increasing sales and market presence.
• This role involves identifying new prospects and initiating cold sales calls.
• Conducting in-store consultations and developing prospects aimed at expanding the Purina business of partner dealers.
• Planning and facilitating impactful educational meetings/events for 4H clubs, saddle clubs, veterinarians, trainers, and lifestyle show clubs, to enhance the brand image of Purina and partner dealers, sell products, and boost store traffic.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or a related field is highly preferred.
• Applicants who are nearing completion of their bachelor’s degree or those with demonstrated sales and industry experience may also be considered.
• A foundational understanding of providing nutritional and feeding guidance to horse and cattle owners, as well as for small ruminant species in the market.
• Candidates should possess knowledge of horse and/or cattle management, current management practices, nutritional guidelines, and general market and industry insights.
• Experience in the management and care of horses and/or beef cattle is preferred.
• Proficiency in delivering accurate feeding and management advice.
• Strong computer literacy, particularly with MS Office, along with the capacity to learn ration balancing software (such as HerdSmart) and Salesforce.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, paired with strong organizational and time management abilities.
• A high level of internal motivation, a natural talent for building relationships, and the ability to lead within a team environment.
• Capability and determination to make multiple sales calls daily to customer operations and prospects.
• On-farm engagement in various weather conditions for walkthroughs and animal assessments.
• Proficient networking skills within the industry to connect producers for additional business opportunities and relationship building.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
