This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +1 more state.
• Offer education on disease state, product, and ongoing therapy management in a consumer-friendly manner to the Rett community, which may encompass patients, caregivers, and/or other members of the care team. Caregiver engagement can occur before, during, and after therapy initiation through various formats, including in-person, telephonic, and/or virtual interactions.
• Assess the individual needs of patients and caregivers, serving as a continuous resource to provide suitable education and resources throughout the different stages of the patient journey.
• Collaborate with and support the entire assigned territory, which includes multiple internal cross-functional partners (Marketing, Sales, Patient Access Team, Medical Affairs, Advocacy, and others), and may necessitate coverage across multiple states. Communicate and support educational opportunities with cross-functional partners as appropriate.
• Maintain expert knowledge and offer insights to internal stakeholders, including but not limited to training leads, marketing partners, advocacy, medical, and leadership, to develop tools and resources that address educational gaps and enhance disease state education and therapy management strategies for patient families/caregivers.
• Exhibit profound understanding of disease state, product, and Acadia Customer Support Programs, including Hub-related and Patient Assistance Programs, as well as ambassador speaker programs.
• May facilitate, lead, and present caregiver speaker programs as necessary, and partake in community events within the assigned territory.
• Provide in-service training to physician offices reactively, to educate about the Family Support Educator role, patient support resources available to caregivers, pre and post enrollment in the program, and encourage dialogue between caregivers and healthcare providers.
• Identify and capitalize on opportunities to provide leadership within the Family Support Educator team and with cross-functional partners.
• May offer formal mentorship and/or development opportunities to new Family Support Educator team members and/or to cross-functional colleagues interested in Patient Support Services.
• Recognize training and development opportunities related to Patient Support Services and the broader organization.
• Ensure that all actions, both internally and externally, representing Acadia are in compliance with all laws, regulations, and policies, while demonstrating Acadia values.
• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with an emphasis in life sciences. RN, MSN, or MBA is a plus.
• To qualify for Family Support Educator, a minimum of 5 years of relevant healthcare or pharmaceutical experience is required, including at least 2 years in patient support or education. Clinical backgrounds such as hospital nursing, social work, or patient advocacy within rare or neurological disease areas may be deemed equivalent.
• To qualify for Senior Family Support Educator, at least 8 years of relevant healthcare or pharmaceutical experience is required, including a minimum of 5 years in patient support or education. Clinical backgrounds such as nursing, social work, patient advocacy, or tenure within a specialty area (e.g., rare disease, neurology, pediatrics) may be considered equivalent to industry experience.
• Expertise in Rare Disease, Product Launch, Advocacy, Medicaid, and Medicare is strongly preferred, along with a solid background and understanding of the field environment in the healthcare industry.
• An equivalent combination of relevant education and applicable job experience may also be taken into consideration.
