This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Lead the technical vision for Wizard Studio by establishing engineering standards, guiding architecture direction, and defining delivery practices across the team.
• Act as the senior technology partner for one of Instrument's key client relationships, fostering trusted partnerships with engineering and product leaders.
• Propel our transformation into an AI-first engineering organization by advocating for AI adoption, enhancing team capabilities, and discovering innovative ways AI can optimize delivery.
• Provide guidance on technical strategy for intricate digital products, assisting teams in making informed decisions regarding architecture, scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Collaborate closely with Delivery, Design, and Product leadership to define technical strategies, staffing plans, project scopes, and long-term roadmaps.
• Mentor engineering managers and technical leads, cultivating a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and inclusive leadership.
• Evaluate technical scopes, estimates, and solution methodologies, ensuring that work is founded on sound engineering principles and realistic planning.
• Establish scalable engineering operations through reusable patterns, automation, AI-driven workflows, and contemporary development practices.
• Keep abreast of emerging technologies and convert industry shifts into valuable opportunities for both our clients and our engineering practice.
• Extensive experience leading engineering organizations in a digital agency, consultancy, or product development context.
• Profound knowledge of modern software architecture, web technologies, cloud platforms, development workflows, and engineering best practices.
• Proven track record of leading senior engineers and technical managers while building high-performing, collaborative teams.
• Demonstrated ability to translate business objectives into scalable technical solutions and guide organizations through technical transformation.
• Strong fluency in AI and a genuine interest in emerging technologies, with experience integrating AI into engineering workflows and product development.
• Experience working directly with executive stakeholders and conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• A collaborative leadership approach that harmonizes technical excellence, business priorities, and team development.
• A hands-on attitude—you take pleasure in reviewing architecture, mentoring engineers, prototyping solutions, and assisting teams in overcoming challenging technical problems.
• Experience with enterprise clients and navigating large, cross-functional organizations is advantageous.
