This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.
• Spearhead the formulation and implementation of underwriting strategies that foster growth, profitability, membership, and financial performance goals.
• Act as a senior strategic ally to a prominent healthcare client, working in tandem with client underwriting and pricing teams.
• Oversee risk assessment, evaluation, and management while ensuring underwriting decisions are in line with financial and operational objectives.
• Create and execute underwriting methodologies, governance frameworks, policies, and processes.
• Collaborate with pricing strategy, finance, and business leaders to develop competitive solutions, pricing models, and tailored approaches.
• Lead the creation and assessment of new healthcare products, services, and offerings.
• Track underwriting performance, profitability, loss ratio trends, and operational metrics; pinpoint enhancements and suggest corrective measures.
• Examine competitive activities, market dynamics, and regulatory trends.
• Establish and refine client engagement processes, operating models, and governance structures.
• Mentor, coach, and grow a team of underwriting professionals.
• Foster cross-functional collaboration among finance, underwriting, pricing, product, and client-facing teams.
• Extensive progressive leadership experience in healthcare underwriting, risk management, pricing, or similar financial areas.
• Experience in Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) is highly preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of underwriting methodologies, risk assessment, profitability management, pricing strategy, and loss ratio performance.
• Proven success in managing client relationships and advising senior internal and external stakeholders.
• Capability to balance customer requirements with financial and underwriting integrity.
• Experience in developing and executing underwriting policies, governance frameworks, and process enhancements.
• Strong commercial insight and ability to evaluate market opportunities, competitive positioning, and emerging industry trends.
• History of leading high-performing teams, including direct management responsibilities and talent development.
• Outstanding communication, influencing, and relationship-building abilities.
• Capacity to think strategically and function effectively in a collaborative setting.
• Ability to innovate, tackle complex business challenges, and make informed decisions in a dynamic environment.
• Experience supporting large national healthcare clients, payer organizations, PBMs, managed care organizations, or similar healthcare enterprises is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Actuarial Science, or a related field is required.
• An advanced degree (MBA, MHA, or similar) is preferred.
• Relevant professional certifications, underwriting credentials, or specialized training are advantageous.
