This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and implement strategies for the US Medical cardiovascular (CV) pipeline and CV prevention to ensure innovation, efficiency, and practicality.
• Oversee the execution of development activities across all compounds pertaining to the relevant disease areas, with responsibility for budget, timelines, and quality assurance.
• Foster effective team dynamics, enhance performance, prioritize tasks, and facilitate communication within the multidisciplinary team.
• Serve as the main liaison with the US Medical Affairs Leadership team and Global teams, establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with counterparts in cross-functional and Global Line Functions and their respective teams.
• Responsible for developing and implementing strategic planning activities and timelines for the US Medical Affairs CV pipeline and CV prevention initiatives to ensure alignment with the cross-functional strategy.
• Collaborate with external experts in the disease areas to gain insights, inform strategic planning, and act as the primary contact between the Novartis team and external stakeholders to articulate the strategy.
• Proactively identify challenges and potential delays within the program, proposing solutions for evaluation by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Head of US Medical Affairs, while leading risk assessment, contingency planning, and reassessing program timelines and resource needs.
• Lead the analysis of current and future disease projections, including competitive intelligence within the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors.
• Drive and/or coordinate the creation of strategy documents, risk logs, and phase transition tollgates in partnership with the team.
• Assist the VP/Head of the Medical Therapeutic Area in preparing program recommendations and updates for governance boards.
• MD, PhD, PharmD, or Master's/Doctoral degree in life sciences or chemistry, or a Bachelor of Science with an MBA is required.
• A minimum of 10 years of industry experience, including at least 5 years of multi- or cross-functional leadership experience is preferred.
• At least 4 years of experience in the Cardiovascular therapeutic area is required.
• Demonstrated success in leading large-scale, complex multidisciplinary drug development teams, or other large cross-functional teams in pharmaceutical drug development.
• Expertise in drug development processes, encompassing both early and late-stage development.
• Advanced skills in program management and team facilitation, including the ability to set objectives and drive collective team success.
• Strong leadership presence, capable of presenting to and engaging with senior management, with proven abilities in strategic decision-making, scenario analysis, and contingency planning.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to bridge scientific and business participants, effectively implement programs, and manage internal and external collaborations; proficient verbal and written communication skills, and a proven team player.
