This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• The Executive Director, Digital Enablement (DE) is a newly established position tasked with ensuring that digital and AI capabilities provide Vaxcyte with enhanced leverage across all launch functions.
• Initially concentrating on the commercial launch of VAX-31 for the adult indication, this role will spearhead the development of the digital infrastructure, AI capabilities, and commercial technology roadmap from the ground up for Vaxcyte as it embarks on its first product launch.
• The Executive Director, DE acts as a facilitator across various functions, creating systems and capabilities that enable Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Commercial Operations (such as 3PL, Distribution, Customer Service, etc.), Data and Analytics, and other commercial teams to operate more smoothly, gain enhanced intelligence, and achieve a competitive advantage.
• The DE will collaborate with these partners to identify business requirements and recommend or develop system capabilities throughout the organization.
• This role is part of the Commercial organization and works closely with the IT Commercial Lead (ITCL) in the IT department, who will be responsible for implementation, data security, and technical management.
• The role will oversee strategy through execution, ensuring that our launch functions are fully equipped.
• Additionally, this position will address the digital, data, and AI needs of Medical Affairs as one of the multiple functions it supports, while respecting Medical Affairs' autonomy in determining its own scientific strategy, content, and engagement priorities.
• All Medical Affairs enablement activities will adhere to the company’s compliance framework, maintaining the distinction between promotional and non-promotional activities, as well as the independence of scientific engagement.
• BA/BS degree in a scientific discipline, business, marketing, or technology is required.
• An MBA or other advanced degree is highly preferred.
• A minimum of 15+ years of relevant industry experience, including at least 5+ years in commercial or commercial-facing roles within pharmaceutical, biotech, or vaccine organizations, with direct exposure to product launches.
• Proven experience operating under a product management framework: responsible for a product roadmap, managing a backlog, engaging in iterative delivery cycles, and assessing outcomes.
• Experience establishing or leading a commercial digital or commercial excellence function, with accountability for adoption and business results, not just technical execution.
• In-depth understanding of the commercial technology ecosystem, including CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Veeva, etc.), marketing automation platforms, data and analytics platforms, and HCP-facing digital channels.
• Profound knowledge of cutting-edge AI models and their applications in business.
• Demonstrated ability to translate between commercial strategy and technical requirements, as well as convert technical limitations into business solutions.
• AI fluency: substantial working knowledge of generative AI, predictive analytics, next-best-action tools, and AI-assisted content workflows.
• Experience in launching U.S. vaccines and/or specialty biologics is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with revenue management frameworks, including chargebacks, rebates, and gross-to-net systems.
• Knowledge of Sunshine Act compliance, MLR review workflows, and promotional materials management.
• Willingness to travel 20% of the time for commercial and cross-functional team engagements.
• The compensation package will be competitive and includes comprehensive benefits.
• Relocation assistance is available.
