This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +4 more states.
• Lead the formulation and implementation of extensive business development strategies for ICON’s early phase and clinical pharmacology operations throughout Europe.
• Identify, cultivate, and pursue novel business opportunities that align with ICON’s strategic goals.
• Establish and nurture relationships with pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms.
• Utilize knowledge of Phase I clinical pharmacology and early patient studies to recognize client requirements and showcase ICON’s capabilities.
• Support business development efforts for ICON-owned Clinical Research Units (CRUs).
• Create and sustain a sales pipeline from initial contact through proposal, negotiation, and contract finalization.
• Lead intricate commercial discussions and negotiations.
• Collaborate with operational, scientific, commercial, and functional teams on tailored proposals and solutions.
• Monitor competitor activities, market dynamics, and industry trends.
• Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the business development team.
• Foster internal partnerships and collaborate across business development, operations, and other departments.
• Represent ICON at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, life sciences, clinical research, or a related discipline; an advanced degree is preferred.
• Significant experience in business development, sales, or commercial leadership within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, clinical research, or CRO sectors.
• Proven sales and business development experience in early phase clinical pharmacology, specifically in Phase I clinical trials and/or early patient studies.
• Prior experience in early phase clinical pharmacology is crucial.
• Experience in supporting or marketing services provided through Clinical Research Units (CRUs) or similar facilities is highly desirable.
• Established track record of developing and closing intricate business opportunities, driving revenue growth, and surpassing commercial targets.
• Strong comprehension of the European early phase clinical research landscape.
• Established connections with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in motivating, developing, and supporting teams.
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Capacity to operate within a highly matrixed, international organization.
• Willingness and capability to travel frequently across Europe, with approximately 25–50% travel anticipated.
