This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the primary strategic partner to the CEO, taking full executive responsibility for KCA's personnel, programs, growth, and mission fulfillment.
• Develop, professionalize, and continually enhance KCA’s organizational framework, internal systems, and operational procedures.
• Convert the 2026–2028 Strategic Working Plan into actionable annual and quarterly plans with measurable KPIs.
• Create and uphold strong monitoring, evaluation, and reporting structures across all programs and partnerships.
• Supervise monthly reporting cycles for the CEO, prepare for board meetings, and manage governance documentation.
• Foster a high-performance team culture characterized by accountability, regular feedback, and robust staff development.
• Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and growth of team members as the organization expands, while supporting future hiring and staffing requirements.
• Provide clear, values-driven leadership to KCA’s staff and contractors, nurturing a culture of accountability, ambition, and solidarity.
• Set and track individual and team KPIs in alignment with organizational objectives.
• Lead and enhance KCA’s fundraising strategy in the US, aiming for significant growth in philanthropy as the organization scales.
• Build and maintain relationships with major individual donors, high-net-worth individuals, and family foundations.
• Identify and seek funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, and corporations that align with KCA’s mission and initiatives.
• Construct and manage a pipeline of corporate sponsorships and strategic revenue partnerships.
• Ensure KCA adheres to all legal, regulatory, and fiduciary obligations as a US-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
• Oversee annual audits, state filings, tax compliance, and all external verification processes.
• Strengthen board governance practices, including scheduling and preparing for at least four board meetings annually.
• Ensure that organizational policies, such as safeguarding, HR, and financial controls, adhere to best-practice standards.
• Supervise the management and execution of KCA’s complex, multi-country international programs and partner grants.
• Maintain strong relationships with KCA’s partner organizations, ensuring timely grant disbursement, reporting, and organizational assistance.
• Lead strategic initiatives at the executive level, including the Tanzania NICU expansion and the South Africa violence prevention program.
• Travel internationally as necessary to support partner relationships, program launches, donor visits, and activation events.
• Over 15 years of senior leadership experience within the US nonprofit, international development, or philanthropic sectors, with prior experience as an Executive Director or equivalent title strongly preferred.
• Proven history of building and professionalizing organizational systems and infrastructure at scale, ideally in a growing or entrepreneurial context.
• Documented success in fundraising within the US philanthropic landscape, including the cultivation and closure of significant gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
• Proficiency in US nonprofit compliance, governance, financial management, and operations.
• Experience managing complex, large-scale international programs across various regions.
• Strong operational and execution mindset, someone who leads through action and delivers tangible results.
• Exceptional attention to detail with the capacity to hold oneself and others accountable to high standards.
• Comprehensive understanding of international development and the US philanthropic landscape.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to credibly represent KCA to major donors, board members, government partners, and the media.
• Adaptability to ambiguity, rapid change, and competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Resilience, determination, and the confidence to lead in a resourceful, mission-driven organization.
• Comfort collaborating with an international team operating across different time zones globally.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively, both domestically and internationally.
• The compensation for this position ranges from $200,000–$250,000, which includes the potential for a bonus and a benefits package.
