This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with The Athletic newsroom and editorial leadership to create event concepts and programming that resonate with our journalism and audience interests.

• Conduct research, identify, and secure talent – including athletes, coaches, executives, and cultural icons – through outreach, negotiations, and contract arrangements.

• Design and structure the run of show, including conversation arcs, formats, and session organization.

• Partner with moderators, journalists, and hosts to prepare for on-stage dialogues, including briefing materials and preparatory calls.

• Work collaboratively with internal teams (editorial, marketing, commercial, creative development, production) to guarantee smooth execution.

• Stay informed on trends across sports, media, and culture to guide timely and relevant programming.

• Assist in prolonging the impact of event content across various platforms (editorial, video, audio, social).


⛳️ Requirements

• At least 8+ years of experience in programming live events, preferably in sports, media, or entertainment.

• Extensive knowledge of the sports landscape, including leagues, athletes, and significant storylines.

• Demonstrated experience in sourcing, booking, and managing high-profile talent.

• Strong editorial instincts with the capability to craft engaging narratives and discussions.

• Experience collaborating with journalists or editorial teams is highly desirable.

• Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities, with a robust network within sports and media.

• Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

• Comfortable in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and able to adapt to changing priorities.

• Willingness to travel for events as required.
