This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

šŸ“‹ Description

• Supervise student-led planning for 8-10 annual regional Leadership Symposia across the United States, ensuring all logistical details are effectively managed, including venue selection, speaker recruitment, budgeting, and sponsorship.

• Coordinate and implement a virtual career fair annually with over 20 partners and thousands of students participating.

• Partner with student leaders and external collaborators to create engaging event agendas and secure prominent speakers.

• Develop and oversee comprehensive run-of-show plans, timelines, and budgets, leading seamless on-site execution from setup to teardown.

• Manage event timelines and facilitate cross-functional coordination, ensuring alignment among all stakeholders—including Marketing—from planning through execution.

• Cultivate relationships with vendors, venues, and sponsors, negotiating logistics and resolving issues in real-time.

• Support the planning and execution of fundraising events, uniting leading executives to support our mission and programs.

• Capture and utilize post-event insights, tracking attendance, satisfaction, and other success metrics to enhance future events continuously.

• Optimize and streamline all event operations to enhance efficiency, leverage, and scalability.

• Mentor and inspire student volunteers to assist with Leadership Symposia and local partner events.

• Ensure that SOF's mission, vision, and values are vividly represented in every event experience.


ā›³ļø Requirements

• 3-5+ years of experience in corporate and/or non-profit event planning, demonstrating a growth-oriented trajectory, with a preference for conference experience.

• Bachelor's degree.

• Proven experience in taking full ownership of and managing events of varying sizes and complexities, from inception to execution.

• Established expertise in event logistics—venue selection, vendor and speaker coordination, budgeting, and sponsorship.

• Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and strong written and verbal communication abilities.

• Proficient in event and project management tools as well as Google Suite.

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize tasks.

• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time, including some nights and weekends, for SOF conferences, fundraising events, and quarterly management team off-sites across the United States.

• Previous experience thriving in a remote work setting for a significant duration, demonstrating self-motivation without constant oversight.

• Familiarity with AI tools like Claude, Notion, and Gemini.

• Degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Communications, or a related field.
