This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Prepare and update detailed material takeoffs and quantity surveys with support from senior estimating leadership.
• Review architectural drawings, specifications, addenda, structural calculations, and engineering documents to define project scope and pricing requirements.
• Analyze project schedules, including visual mock-ups, testing criteria, material procurement timelines, and installation sequencing.
• Develop thorough estimates for materials, labor, equipment, transportation, taxes, and subcontractor costs.
• Produce precise quantity takeoffs from architectural and structural plans.
• Prepare material summaries, sketches, and bid documentation essential for estimate development.
• Solicit, assess, and review vendor and subcontractor quotes for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with project specifications.
• Coordinate bid-related communications, including the distribution of plans, specifications, and addenda to vendors and subcontractors.
• Prepare bid proposals, pricing breakdowns, unit costs, clarifications, inclusions, and exclusions.
• Assist in the preparation of final bid packages and customer submissions.
• Participate in scope review meetings and maintain thorough documentation of meetings.
• Follow up with general contractors and clients regarding bid submissions and feedback on proposals.
• Support senior estimating staff with project pricing, budgeting, and proposal development.
• Utilize Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, Word, and other estimating software tools to generate precise estimates and reports.
• Meet all proposal deadlines while ensuring a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• A minimum of two (2) years of estimating, sales, or preconstruction experience, preferably in the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of architectural and structural drawings and construction documentation.
• Experience in preparing quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and bid proposals.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in Revit.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and spreadsheet analysis.
• Familiarity with glass door systems.
• Familiarity with point-supported glass wall systems.
• Familiarity with high-span curtain wall systems.
• Familiarity with unitized curtain wall systems.
• Familiarity with storefront framing and entrance systems.
• Field construction experience related to unitized curtain wall or glazing installation.
• Knowledge of Kawneer storefront products and systems.
• Experience with PartnerPak estimating software for Kawneer.
• A college degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field is preferred.
