This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Evaluate and interpret project plans, specifications (including drawings and schedules), and other pertinent documents to fully grasp the project's scope and requirements.
• Create precise and detailed cost estimates for projects, covering labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor services, and other related expenses.
• Employ industry-standard software and tools (McCormick, BLUEBEAM) to produce estimates, ensuring accuracy and consistency throughout the estimation process.
• Consider variables such as market conditions, labor rates, and material costs.
• Collaborate with the bidding team to formulate comprehensive bid proposals, ensuring adherence to client specifications and requirements.
• Engage in bid meetings and presentations, offering insights into the estimation process and the reasoning behind pricing decisions.
• Request and assess quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing for materials and services.
• Establish and maintain robust relationships with vendors and subcontractors to gather pricing and information.
• Generate regular reports and summaries on cost tracking and estimating precision.
• Work alongside the Engineering and Project Management Teams to resolve any ambiguities and collect necessary information for accurate estimation.
• Share knowledge and best practices with the team to improve overall estimating proficiency.
• At least 8 years of experience in electrical estimating.
• A Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, construction management, or a related field; equivalent experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite.
• Demonstrated experience as an electrical estimator in the construction sector, ideally with a focus on electrical systems and installations.
• Strong understanding of electrical construction practices, materials, and methodologies.
• Familiarity with industry-standard estimating software and tools (McCormick, Bluebeam).
• Exceptional analytical and mathematical skills with a strong attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal teams, clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Capability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Knowledge of the local construction market and regulations is a plus.
