Estimator – Spray Seal, Construction

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Prepare comprehensive and precise cost estimates for spray seal projects, factoring in binder types and application rates, aggregate sizes and supply costs, equipment and plant needs, labor, traffic management, and overhead expenses.

• Utilize client-supplied takeoff information and project documentation to finalize all necessary paperwork and generate quotes through Salesforce.

• Incorporate current market rates for bitumen, emulsion, and aggregate materials, while considering haulage, mobilization, and site-specific conditions.

• Conduct reviews and cross-checks of estimates prior to submission to ensure both accuracy and competitiveness.

• Operate within Salesforce CRM to manage opportunities, monitor quote statuses, and keep precise records throughout the estimating process.

• Maintain well-organized documentation of all estimates, assumptions, rate schedules, and correspondence for auditing and review purposes.

• Issue quotes and follow-up communications to clients via email in a timely and professional manner.

• Assist in the creation of tender submissions and formal bids for spray seal contracts.

• Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals, validating rates against current market benchmarks.

• Collaborate with plant operators, aggregate suppliers, and traffic management contractors to confirm pricing and availability.

• Coordinate with the Operations Manager and field teams to clarify project scope, accessibility conditions, traffic management needs, and scheduling constraints.

• Provide regular updates on the quote pipeline, including win/loss outcomes and estimating assumptions, to the Estimating Manager.

• Identify and highlight pricing risks, scope gaps, or unusual site conditions early in the estimating phase.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3–5 years of experience in estimating or operations within the spray seal, road construction, or civil pavement sectors.

• Strong working knowledge of spray seal operations, including binder types (bitumen, emulsions), aggregate specifications, application rates, plant requirements, and crew compositions.

• Understanding of traffic management requirements and their cost impacts on spray seal projects.

• Proficiency in Salesforce CRM or similar estimating/project management software.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for cost modeling, rate schedules, and quantity take-offs.

• Exceptional attention to detail with the capability to produce precise and accurate estimates under tight deadlines.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills for client correspondence and internal reporting.

• Ability to work independently, manage multiple quotes concurrently, and adapt to changing project priorities.

• Experience in estimating for local councils, RMS, or government road maintenance programs.

• Familiarity with Australian standards and specifications for sprayed sealing works (AGPT/T190 or equivalent).

• Exposure to asphalt or civil construction estimating in addition to spray seal.

• Experience with takeoff or measurement software.
