• Measure floor plans and blueprints to determine quantities for bids, contracting, and ordering of flooring materials, wall materials, countertops, and pavers.
• Gather and assess all bid documents, including drawings, addendums, and bid forms.
• Generate custom quotes following department policies to assist sales and design teams.
• Complete takeoffs in line with departmental guidelines.
• Comply with project SLAs and adhere to set deadlines.
• Inspect plans, specifications, selections, and diagrams for precision.
• Recognize product locations and application requirements.
• Employ CAD software for precise measurements and calculations of net and gross quantities for bidding and procurement.
• Develop custom diagrams per material, plan, or lot as necessary.
• Request, organize, and manage all data essential for project submissions.
• Take responsibility for assigned accounts and document all work on a daily tracker.
• Participate in pre-bid and new builder meetings as required.
• Collaborate directly with other departments to clarify discrepancies and resolve issues.
• Manage requests for reviews of material issues, including Under Construction Repairs (UCRs) and material shortages; return findings and modify banked data as necessary.
• Conduct root cause analyses and propose areas for enhancement.
• Lead projects and support ongoing improvement initiatives.
• Assist with and lead training, mentoring, and knowledge sharing for other estimators, as applicable.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• Ability to interpret digital and hard blueprints effectively.
• Skill to visualize 3D data derived from 2D information.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong mathematical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Eagerness to learn new skills and adapt to changes.
• Capability and willingness to work both independently and as part of a team, with strong time-management and self-prioritization skills.
• Minimum of one year of relevant experience and/or training, with increasing levels of responsibility and complexity over time.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree, or completion of a two-year technical school.
• Preferred: Three to five years of relevant experience.
• Preferred: Familiarity with industry or builder programs.
• Preferred: Knowledge of flooring systems.
• Preferred: Onsite field or project management experience.
• Preferred: Knowledge of Callidus and/or RFMS Measure.
• Preferred: Bilingual experience is a plus, but not required (English/Spanish).
