Estimator and Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Evaluate project specifications, drawings, and tender documents.

• Create precise cost estimates and competitive proposals for fire alarm and fire suppression systems.

• Conduct site surveys and execute material take-offs and labor calculations.

• Acquire and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.

• Examine project risks, costs, and scheduling needs.

• Assist project managers during the transition and execution phases.

• Design fire alarm and suppression systems in line with relevant codes and standards.

• Generate detailed system layouts and installation drawings utilizing AutoCAD.

• Develop equipment schedules and technical submissions.

• Collaborate on system designs with architects, consultants, engineers, and contractors.

• Analyze and modify drawings based on client feedback and site conditions.

• Offer engineering support throughout installation, testing, and commissioning.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in estimating and designing fire alarm and fire suppression systems.

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related field.

• Expertise in AutoCAD for crafting detailed engineering drawings.

• Solid understanding of BS5839 Part 1 and Part 6, BSEN15004, along with knowledge of LPS1204 and the Bafe schemes.

• Experience with hydraulic calculations and fire suppression system design is beneficial.

• Familiarity with fire alarm systems from leading manufacturers such as Notifier, Kentec, Gent, and Advanced Electronics.

• Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

• Valid driver's license.
