This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.
• Analyzes workflow, recommends solutions, and implements application solutions to fulfill departmental needs.
• Converts departmental requirements into business functional requirements.
• Engages in various tasks related to Epic and other assigned information technology applications.
• Aids in the design, development, system configuration, implementation, and support of designated Epic applications for the organization.
• Responsible for the planning, training, and evaluation of application functionality.
• Collaborates with the team and key stakeholders to ensure effective training development and implementation of application functionality.
• Conducts comprehensive analysis of workflows, data collection, report specifics, and various technical issues linked to Epic software.
• Explores end users’ preferences while making build decisions and evaluates business operations in relation to those decisions.
• Constructs and maintains Epic application content as directed by the department lead or manager.
• Keeps up to date with new application functionalities and enhancements.
• Adheres to functional specification documents to create content within the Epic application.
• Executes thorough unit testing of all builds prior to handoff for functional and/or integrated testing.
• Documents and escalates system issues through the internal chain of command; communicates with vendors when necessary.
• Assists in populating databases during the initial system build with support from Epic.
• Gathers information regarding potential system enhancements and functionality requirements.
• Prepares detailed specifications as required.
• Evaluates data conversion needs and ensures that data transferred via an interface into an Epic application meets business demands.
• Develops and documents procedures for the project team related to system changes and other tasks.
• Establishes processes and procedures for change control within the system.
• Participates in the development and delivery of training for end users.
• Collaborates with end users to troubleshoot issues and address inquiries.
• Works with report writers to ensure the application includes necessary reporting capabilities.
• Prioritizes and implements requested changes to the system, analyzing new functionalities in releases to determine their application.
• Maintains ongoing communication with Epic representatives and collaborates with them and the GHS end user community to ensure the system meets organizational needs.
• Provides end user support during implementation and serves as an application expert to assist in the application rollout.
• Utilizes proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to identify, articulate, and resolve system issues to enhance system effectiveness.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Services, Health Administration, Business Administration, Health Sciences, or a related field.
• Two (2) years of experience with Epic or integrated EMR systems.
• Alternatively, an Associate degree in Computer Science or a related field combined with four (4) years of relevant Information Technology experience in Business Computer Science or a healthcare setting may be considered.
• Alternatively, a High School Diploma or equivalent along with seven (7) years of relevant Information Technology experience in a business, computer science, or healthcare setting may be considered.
• Alternatively, one (1) year of Epic build and/or support experience may be considered.
• Epic Module Certification as required for the position.
• CPHIMS certification preferred.
