This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Establish the medium- to long-term strategic vision and operational plans for the Safety and Industrial Business Group.
• Lead and execute EHS programs encompassing health and safety assurance, environmental protection of air, land, and water, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, fire safety, and related disciplines.
• Manage a cross-functional team of EHS experts to devise and implement strategic initiatives aimed at reducing incidents, enhancing compliance, and fostering efficiency.
• Align organizational strategies with corporate goals and standards.
• Discover opportunities to enhance efficiency and communication within the business group and across the corporate framework.
• Collaborate with operations, product stewardship, plant engineering, and other departments to avert incidents and ensure adherence to regulatory and 3M standards.
• Formulate health, safety, and environmental business strategies in partnership with business leaders.
• Engage site operations to identify and mitigate risks in accordance with 3M policies and procedures.
• Adapt EHS strategies to evolving market and production conditions for distribution facilities.
• Enforce EHS standards and establish guidelines for security, health and safety assurance, pollutants, and related domains.
• Mentor functional leaders, external business partners, and the community on EHS data and methodologies.
• Ensure site equipment and processes comply with 3M and governmental EHS legislation, regulations, and policies.
• Safeguard employees and company assets by preventing injuries, property damage, and negative environmental impact.
• Develop an effective resolution system for prompt response to EHS concerns.
• Advocate for EHS best practices and foster a robust EHS culture within the organization.
• Act as a liaison between 3M, government agencies, and the local community.
• Communicate effectively with managers, functional leaders, area/business leaders, direct reports, and external clients.
• Negotiate, advise, persuade stakeholders, engage in corporate initiatives, and adhere to professional, quality, and corporate standards.
• A Bachelor’s degree is required, with completion and verification prior to commencement.
• A minimum of fifteen (15) years of EHS technical experience and leadership in a private, public, government, or military context.
• At least eight (8) years of experience in manufacturing.
• A current, valid Driver’s License.
• Must have legal authorization to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status.
• A Master’s degree in EHS and/or Engineering from an accredited institution is preferred.
• Strong leadership and supervisory capabilities for managing personnel.
• Familiarity with employment law.
• Proficient communication, performance appraisal, performance management, hiring and interviewing, documentation, interpersonal skills, coaching, change management, conflict resolution, delegation, goal setting, motivation, emotional intelligence, and strategic planning abilities.
• Willingness to travel up to 40% both domestically and internationally.
