This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Assist NOAA/NMFS with economic evaluations for protected-species regulatory initiatives, such as critical habitat designations and regulatory impact assessments.
• Execute both quantitative and qualitative economic analyses.
• Draft reports to support formal rule-making processes.
• Perform analyses on economic impacts, cost-benefit evaluations, and cost-effectiveness studies.
• Evaluate the economic repercussions of critical habitat designations and regulatory options.
• Gather, assess, and interpret economic and statistical information.
• Utilize econometric, quantitative, and qualitative techniques to tackle complex economic challenges.
• Develop technical economic analyses and regulatory documentation.
• Examine the economic consequences of management strategies for protected marine species.
• Collaborate with biologists and stakeholders regarding data, assumptions, and outcomes.
• Over 3 years of pertinent experience.
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree is generally expected.
• In-depth knowledge of economic assessment and impact analysis.
• Proficiency in econometric, statistical, quantitative, and qualitative economic research.
• Experience in evaluating natural-resource or environmental regulatory impacts.
• Excellent technical writing and analytical capabilities.
• Must possess eligibility to work in the U.S. and secure necessary credentials.
• Preferred: Familiarity with critical habitat economics, Regulatory Impact Analysis (RIA), or the Regulatory Flexibility Act (RFA).
• Preferred: Background in supporting ESA, MMPA, NEPA, or environmental rule-making.
• Preferred: Experience in natural-resource or environmental economics.
