This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Offer field and laboratory assistance for cultural resource initiatives across the United States
• Execute archaeological fieldwork, lab analysis, and documentation tasks
• Carry out pedestrian surveys, shovel test pit excavations, test unit and feature excavations, mapping, and site documentation
• Support Phase I, II, and III field and laboratory research
• Operate under the guidance of Crew Chiefs, Field Director, and Principal Investigator
• Collaborate with technical field, lab, office, management, and administrative personnel to uphold AECOM quality standards
• Provide project-specific assistance including graphic design, writing, travel coordination, paperwork organization, and preparation of field equipment
• Conduct data entry, artifact labeling, and record copying for curation purposes
• Engage in manual labor, including excavation with shovels and transporting dirt-filled wheelbarrows
• Construct or repair field and laboratory equipment as necessary
• High School Diploma
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License is mandatory
• Must successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records review
• U.S. Citizenship is required
• Capability to perform bending, kneeling, standing, lifting, and carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Endurance for extended walking or standing on diverse terrains and in varying weather conditions
• Familiarity with basic field excavation methods
• Proficiency in processing archaeological artifacts through washing, cataloging, and marking
• Competence in accurately completing field and laboratory documentation
• BA or BS in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related discipline, or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education is preferred
• Experience with GIS, GPS, Total Station, Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop, and statistical analysis tools such as SAS or SPSS is preferred
• Completion of a university-based archaeological field school is preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Prior relevant internship experience is preferred
