• Develop, construct, and maintain the data infrastructure that fuels analytics, dashboards, and AI/ML functionalities for a dynamic technical organization in direct support of military personnel.
• Design and implement data ingestion, transformation, and storage pipelines for both structured and unstructured data sources.
• Create data models (medallion/lakehouse, star/snowflake, or Data Vault as suitable) and manage the platform with a focus on observability, lineage, data quality, and cost management.
• Engage directly with a contemporary Microsoft data stack (Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure SQL, ADLS Gen2).
• Collaborate with the Power Platform and BI teams to ensure that dashboards and applications utilize curated, governed data.
• Enforce data governance, security, and access protocols in accordance with DoD regulations.
• Proactively address unique and/or complex challenges with minimal direction and effectively operate in a high-paced technical environment while supporting senior military leadership.
• Active Secret clearance is mandatory, with the ability to acquire and maintain a Top-Secret clearance.
• At least 5 years of practical data engineering experience in enterprise or DoD settings.
• Strong expertise in SQL and Python (or Scala) for data transformation and pipeline creation.
• Proven experience with Azure data services: Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, ADLS Gen2, and Azure SQL.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, or similar lakehouse platforms.
• Background in designing dimensional and lakehouse data models for analytics and BI utilization.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for data (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions), source control, and infrastructure as code.
