Enterprise Architect, Data, AI, Cloud

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Define and take ownership of the comprehensive technical architecture encompassing data, AI, and platform domains.

• Collaborate within a multi-squad, multi-domain engineering organization.

• Establish Architecture Decision Records.

• Facilitate cross-functional technical forums.

• Convert business objectives into clear, long-term engineering roadmaps.

• Responsibilities include cloud-native infrastructure, data platform architecture, AI/ML system design, API governance, and ensuring security and compliance, including GDPR.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8–15 years of experience in software or data engineering.

• 3+ years in a formal architecture position (Principal, Staff, or Enterprise Architect level).

• Proven architecture leadership experience across multiple squads or domains.

• Familiarity with enterprise or solution architecture practices — TOGAF or an equivalent formal methodology.

• Extensive hands-on experience with cloud-native architecture on at least one major cloud provider: AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• In-depth understanding of data architecture patterns: Data Mesh, Lakehouse, Data Warehouse.

• Expertise in API design and governance: REST, GraphQL, and event-driven architecture at platform scale.

• Experience in designing microservices and distributed systems in production settings.

• Proven track record in defining and maintaining Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) across multi-team environments.

• Knowledge of security and compliance architecture, including GDPR and data privacy frameworks.

• Strong skills in trade-off analysis.

• Demonstrated ability to mentor and align engineering teams around architectural principles without direct authority.

• Credible influence with stakeholders at the CTO and product director level.

• Proficiency in English: C1 (Advanced) — mandatory.
