• Current & Future State Architecture: Document the existing architectural framework and develop detailed target architectures for the future.
• FedRAMP Certification Architecture: Act as the main technical authority for FedRAMP authorization. Establish clear system boundaries, assess and enforce compliant component selections (e.g., FIPS 140-2/3 validated cryptography), and spearhead technical remediation efforts to resolve audit findings and Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms).
• Advanced Branch Management & Alignment: Create, implement, and uphold a sustainable branching, merging, and release strategy across both commercial and governmental environments. Prevent codebase divergence, manage feature toggling across compliance boundaries, and optimize shared services while adhering to stringent FedRAMP isolation standards.
• Future-Proofing & AI/ML Strategy: Establish the architectural foundation for future integrations of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML), assessing where these technologies can generate business value and improve user experiences in forthcoming product developments.
• Business Alignment: Ensure technology initiatives and roadmaps are consistently aligned with overall business objectives.
• Lifecycle & Debt Management: Oversee technology roadmapping, manage lifecycle processes, and proactively identify and reduce technical debt arising from simultaneous commercial/government product development.
• Strategic Evaluation: Perform “buy vs. build” assessments, vendor analyses, and provide architectural insights during requirements reviews and Level of Effort (LOE) estimations.
• Telehealth & Real-Time Communications: Design highly scalable, low-latency integrations for video technology and telephony systems that form the foundation of our Telehealth services.
• System Optimization: Offer actionable recommendations for enhancements to platform performance, scalability, stability, and security.
• Architecture Modernization: Lead the strategic transition and considerations between microservices and monolithic architectures.
• Integration & Interoperability: Establish API strategies, governance, and system integration patterns to guarantee seamless interoperability.
• Data Oversight: Collaborate on data flow architectures and ensure adherence to data modeling best practices.
• Government Compliance Enforcement: Convert FedRAMP (Moderate/High), DoD SRG, or other government compliance frameworks into actionable, testable engineering requirements and architectural patterns.
• Healthcare Compliance & Data Privacy: Guarantee that all architectures comply with HIPAA, protecting Protected Health Information (PHI), as well as other data privacy regulations like GDPR and CCPA.
• Secure Architecture: Propel the adoption of Zero-Trust architecture principles.
• Identity Management: Partner with security teams to develop robust Identity and Access Management (IAM) strategies.
• Agile/DevOps Integration: Incorporate architectural processes within Agile and SAFe frameworks.
• Deployment Excellence: Align architectural standards with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices, specifically for deployment pipelines into separate commercial and GovCloud environments.
• Innovation Testing: Lead the creation and assessment of Proof of Concepts (PoCs) for emerging technologies, including early-stage exploration of AI/ML tools.
• Business Continuity: Engage in disaster recovery planning and ensure architectures meet strict business continuity standards.
• Cross-Functional Communication: Facilitate communication between product management and engineering teams.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Simplify complex technical concepts, trade-offs, and strategies into understandable language for non-technical stakeholders.
• Mentorship: Guide senior developers and tech leads, promoting a culture of continuous technical excellence and collaborative problem-solving.
• Experience: Over 8 years of software engineering experience, with a minimum of 3 years in an enterprise architectural position.
• FedRAMP & GovCloud Experience: Demonstrable, hands-on experience in architecting software for FedRAMP authorization, including extensive knowledge of government cloud environments (e.g., AWS GovCloud, Azure Government) and boundary isolation requirements.
• Technical Depth: Profound understanding of cloud architectures (AWS/Azure/GCP), API gateways, microservices, complex source control management (SCM) strategies for parallel release tracks, modern deployment pipelines, video/telephony integrations, and data models within a Ruby on Rails framework.
• Emerging Tech: Familiarity or practical experience with AI/ML architectural concepts and large language model (LLM) integrations is a significant advantage.
• Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities, with a proven record of influencing executive leadership.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
• Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
• Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
• Flexible work hours and remote work options.
• Opportunities for professional development and continuing education.
• Generous paid time off and holiday schedule.
