English OPI/VRI Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nigeria.

📋 Description

• Respond to calls in a professional manner, adhering to the Interpreter's code of conduct.

• Always be prepared to take notes during calls.

• Familiarize yourself with the specific vocabulary associated with the industry in which you are interpreting, particularly healthcare and medical fields.

• Accurately and completely convey all messages without adding, omitting, or substituting any information.

• Deliver the highest level of customer service during interpreting sessions.

• Facilitate communication between Limited English Proficient individuals and clients by providing precise and comprehensive interpretations of messages.

• Adhere to established standards of practice.

• Participate in internal professional training sessions.

• Demonstrate eagerness to obtain new professional certifications.

• Communicate and report to your team leader regularly.

• Follow dress code requirements for video remote interpreting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in the source language (English) and a native speaker of the target language "Rukiga".

• A minimum of 1 year of telephone interpretation experience with a reputable interpretation company.

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology is essential.

• Familiarity with legal terminology is an advantage.

• Possession of international certifications in the healthcare sector is a plus (such as PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA, etc.).

• High school diploma in your native language is required.

• Demonstrated high emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity.

• Excellent communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills are essential.
