Engineering Team Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +10 more states.

📋 Description

• Assemble a compact team of engineers dedicated to designing agents and agentic engineering systems, guiding them from within the organization.

• Conduct one-on-one meetings, foster career development, manage hiring and performance evaluations for your team, while ensuring high standards for delivery and quality.

• Maintain a hands-on approach by crafting solutions, assessing agent outputs, and tackling complex tasks personally.

• Assist a talented and inquisitive group in delivering work that the organization can rely on, enabling swift progress without compromising quality.

• Perform code reviews, mentor engineers, resolve project bottlenecks, and oversee team priorities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in hands-on software engineering positions, with significant expertise in backend (Python) or frontend (React, TypeScript, or modern JavaScript frameworks), along with the discernment to evaluate and enhance both engineers' and agent-generated code.

• At least 1 year in a technical lead, team lead, or hands-on project management capacity, with a proven history of mentoring and developing engineers. We welcome a strong first-time people manager who has acted as a de facto lead.

• Experience in overseeing a team's delivery: establishing direction, deconstructing ambiguous tasks, holding individuals accountable for commitments, and driving projects to completion.

• Proven capability to design solutions utilizing AI development tools and coding assistants, and to elevate a team's standards for reviewing agent-generated work.

• Strong proficiency across our technology stack: Python, React, and TypeScript, in addition to expertise in databases, caching strategies, UNIX development tools, and deployment to AWS or other cloud platforms.

• Willingness to assume the people management responsibilities of a lead: conducting reviews, interviewing and assessing candidates, and fostering career growth.

• A history of transforming recurring challenges into owned, shared solutions, and managing cross-functional projects to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to inspire and mentor engineers at various experience levels.
