This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Lead a small team of designers in the design, development, installation, and maintenance of electrical substations.
• Manage protection and controls design projects of various scales, including resource planning, risk management, and project delivery.
• Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and oversee career development for designers.
• Prepare or supervise cost estimates and schedules for protection and controls design projects.
• Allocate tasks among direct reports to meet project demands effectively.
• Coordinate with project managers and design managers to ensure efficient and high-quality project execution.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to direct reports.
• Oversee the preparation of protection and controls designs.
• Address design issues and offer troubleshooting and problem-solving support.
• Act as the primary client contact throughout the lifecycle of projects.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and timely service delivery.
• Assist in the preparation of proposals.
• Ensure adherence to industry standards, codes, and regulations pertaining to electrical substations.
• Conduct quality reviews of the work produced by direct reports.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for substation design, operation, and maintenance.
• Stay updated on industry advancements, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in the design of electrical substations.
• PE license is highly preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Capability to organize multiple protection and controls design assignments and manage competing priorities.
• Experience in managing design projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated analytical and decision-making abilities.
• A successful history of positive interactions with clients.
• Experience in creating and reviewing substation protection and controls design drawings.
• Proficiency with current software applications utilized for substation design work.
• Ability to work effectively with team members located remotely.
• Must be able to pass a post-offer drug and alcohol test, including marijuana, in accordance with Federal regulations.
