This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• In the role of team leader, you will guide the successful delivery of initiatives, overseeing everything from the initial concept and planning phases to implementation, collaborating with both engineers and non-technical team members.
• Supervise and mentor the engineers within your team, fostering both personal and professional growth, while enabling them to achieve impactful collaboration.
• Collaborate with the team’s Product Manager to develop a roadmap that ensures the team operates effectively for maximum and sustainable results.
• Initiate enhancements to the team’s processes and practices, exercising the freedom to implement changes that align with your vision and rectify inefficiencies.
• Maintain oversight of the technical decisions made by your team and hold responsibility for the technical strategy in the product area under your team's purview. While the Engineering Manager role at Paddle is technical, coding contributions are not expected.
• Play a role in shaping the metrics as part of Paddle's broader data strategy.
• Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of Paddle’s high-traffic, event-driven system’s reliability and scalability.
• Collaborate with other leaders in Engineering, contributing to the department's engineering principles and practices to establish an industry-leading organization.
• Proficiency in Go or comparable programming languages.
• Experience in building or scaling subscription or recurring billing systems will be a significant asset.
• A passion for nurturing talent, with a minimum of 2 years of management experience overseeing multiple direct reports.
• Demonstrable experience as a senior software engineer, working on intricate, large-scale, cloud-based systems.
• A robust and clear understanding of what constitutes a high-performing and sustainable engineering team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with comfort in leading technical discussions with both engineers and non-technical team members.
• Enthusiasm and specific experience in developing products that facilitate payments, transfers, and financial reconciliation.
• An individual who enjoys diving into details and comprehending the intricacies of financial transactions.
• Ability to work closely with financial, risk, and legal stakeholders, ensuring that systems are dependable, compliant, and scalable.
• A proactive mindset with a sense of ownership, balanced with self-awareness and a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Proven success in navigating complex problems and ambiguity, while upholding high standards and balancing progress with perfection.
