Engineering Manager, SRE

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Lead and mentor a team of skilled engineers through consistent one-on-ones, goal establishment, and daily collaboration.

• Engage directly in infrastructure tasks, including DevOps tools, automation, platform reliability, or cloud infrastructure on GCP, focusing on areas where you can provide the most impact.

• Take charge of team prioritization: convert business requirements into technical objectives, assist in defining quarterly focus areas, and ensure the team is addressing the most critical tasks.

• Detect and address gaps, which may include insufficient coverage, reliability risks, skills that need enhancement, or processes hampering the team's efficiency.

• Assist in leading incident response efforts, ensuring the reliability of the team’s systems during high-pressure situations.

• Collaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, and fellow engineering managers.

• Disseminate knowledge within your team—mentoring, reviewing, and helping to elevate the standards for building and maintaining reliable systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in people management—you have previously led a team of experienced engineers and are adept at conducting one-on-ones, providing feedback, and fostering team development.

• Strong technical foundation in DevOps or infrastructure engineering, coupled with a robust automation mindset and a genuine comprehension of system operations.

• Practical experience with public cloud environments—any major cloud provider is acceptable since the core principles apply (direct experience with GCP is an advantage).

• Familiarity with self-hosted or bare-metal infrastructure and virtualization.

• Experience in managing infrastructure at scale.

• Knowledge of programming or scripting—you don't need to be a software engineer, but you should be comfortable reading, reviewing, and writing code as part of your responsibilities.

• Excellent communication skills in English.

• Bonus: a mindset oriented towards infrastructure security (including secrets management, hardening, and compliance).
