Engineering Manager, Python

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead a team of engineers to design, architect, construct, and enhance backend services that drive essential platform functionality.

• Establish technical direction, elevate engineering standards, and assist the team while maintaining a hands-on approach.

• Manage 1:1 meetings, performance evaluations, career advancement, and recruitment processes.

• Oversee planning, code reviews, and design assessments.

• Act as the primary liaison among engineering, Product, other Engineering Managers, and cross-functional stakeholders.

• Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, craftsmanship, and open feedback.

• Write code, review pull requests, and participate in architectural decision-making.

• Lead backend design efforts utilizing Python, FastAPI, Temporal, and PostgreSQL.

• Advocate for unit testing, code quality, CI/CD practices, monitoring, and reliability standards.

• Utilize AI tools to enhance delivery processes.

• Own the technical roadmap and ensure delivery from concept to production.

• Define SLIs/SLOs, conduct postmortems, and implement corrective measures.

• Promote observability through logging, metrics collection, and alert systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering or a proven record of impactful contributions.

• A minimum of 2 years serving in a formal managerial role.

• Excellent cross-functional communication abilities.

• Ability to thrive in ambiguous situations and take high ownership of tasks.

• Experience in startup or rapidly growing SaaS environments.

• Advanced expertise in Python and backend API design, including FastAPI or comparable frameworks.

• Proficient in database design and query optimization techniques.

• Strong understanding of containers, deployment processes, monitoring, and reliability practices.

• Proven track record of promoting engineering quality and mentoring team members.

• Familiarity with AI tools aimed at enhancing code quality, testing, documentation, and operational efficiency.

• Knowledge of Python, FastAPI, Temporal, PostgreSQL, Azure Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, Pulumi, and Vue.js.
