Engineering Manager – Platform Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Oversee production infrastructure across multiple platforms.

• Take ownership of IMP, Salsify's internal management platform, utilizing Go, Temporal, and GraphQL.

• Provision services, manage secrets, execute Kubernetes operations, and deploy via IMP.

• Collaborate with InfoSec to operate the security program, focusing on cloud posture, vulnerability management, secrets rotation, and access management.

• Develop a roadmap that includes platform migrations, version currency upgrades, cost reduction initiatives, and new platform capabilities.

• Lead a team of 7 members across various time zones.

• Balance roadmap initiatives with reactive tasks.

• Serve as the representative for infrastructure to product teams, engineering leadership, finance, and procurement.

• Foster the growth and well-being of the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience managing engineers in an infrastructure, platform, or SRE context.

• Strong tactical skills and comfort with technical details.

• Demonstrated ability to protect a team's focus while managing external requests.

• Capacity to collaborate with senior, opinionated engineers while maintaining their autonomy.

• Excellent written communication skills and the ability to convey technical trade-offs to non-technical audiences.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and change.

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, and AWS (strongly preferred).

• Background in cloud cost management and vendor negotiations (strongly preferred).

• Experience in security-focused environments, including SOC/ISO audit exposure or vulnerability management programs (strongly preferred).

• History of managing teams across multiple time zones (strongly preferred).
