This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Lead the team in executing initiatives to a high standard, from conception and planning to deployment, collaborating closely with engineers and stakeholders throughout the organization.
• Take ownership of developer productivity and enhance the internal developer experience as key outcomes under your leadership.
• Actively listen throughout the organization, synthesize feedback, and build consensus before guiding the team toward a strategic direction, then maintain a clear, well-structured roadmap for lasting impact.
• Facilitate coordination across team boundaries, including interactions with SRE, Security, Principal Engineers, and leadership, influencing effectively without relying on formal authority.
• Manage and mentor your engineers, fostering their personal and professional development as well as high-impact team performance.
• Remain hands-on and technically credible, contributing to code and reviews while placing focus on direction, alignment, and removing obstacles for the team.
• Oversee the team's technical decisions and play an active role in shaping the technical strategy of the Platform group.
• Maintain the team's shared libraries and tools, ensuring the code that supports numerous other services is well-kept and safely deployed for the benefit of the entire engineering organization.
• Drive enhancements to group processes, developer experience, as well as the reliability and scalability of a high-traffic, event-driven system, with the autonomy to modify what isn't functioning effectively.
• Extensive experience as a senior engineer on complex, large-scale, cloud-based systems (Go is a plus).
• Management experience supervising several direct reports (2+ years) at at least two different organizations, along with a genuine enthusiasm for developing talent.
• Passionate about and experienced in creating products for internal stakeholders and developers.
• Exceptional at building trust and alignment: gather and synthesize feedback, communicate a clear rationale, and engage others before executing; adept at reading a room and adapting as needed.
• Maintain flexibility in your planning: form strong opinions based on evidence, readily update them with new insights, and be comfortable with the possibility of being incorrect.
• Excel in ambiguous situations, transforming loosely-defined challenges into a clear, ordered path while maintaining rapid progress.
• Strong, demonstrable understanding of the components that contribute to a high-performing and sustainable engineering team.
