Engineering Manager, Inbound

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead and mentor a high-performing team of software engineers, nurturing a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and clear accountability.

• Collaborate across functions with Product Management, Data Science, and AI/ML teams to develop, deploy, and refine internal computer vision and automated item classification systems.

• Take ownership of the architectural scalability and performance of backend services (Ruby on Rails, Elixir, cloud-native applications) that support our intake flow and global Item Master database.

• Promote operational excellence by working with hardware and vendor integration partners to coordinate robotics and conveyance automation within our execution facilities.

• Oversee agile delivery cycles through structured ceremonies, ensuring the engineering backlog is prioritized and closely aligned with quarterly operational OKRs.

• Convert intricate physical workflows into clean, reliable, and highly observable distributed software capabilities that minimize operational friction for our luxury experts.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3+ years of direct engineering management experience leading distributed software development teams in dynamic environments.

• Proven success in architecting, scaling, and operating distributed, public cloud-native systems and APIs.

• Practical experience collaborating with Data Science or Machine Learning teams, specifically deploying software that interacts with AI models (e.g., automated tagging, classification, or image processing).

• Strong knowledge of relational database systems (MySQL or PostgreSQL) optimized for complex data structures such as product catalogs or item masters.

• Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to convey highly technical concepts to non-technical operational stakeholders and floor leaders.
