This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.
• Develop and implement the engineering strategy to ensure it aligns with product and business objectives, enabling the team to deliver effectively at scale.
• Collaborate with the VP of Technology and VP of Product to convert roadmap priorities into actionable engineering plans.
• Define and execute the technical strategy for our high-performance, low-latency backend services (Prebid Server, Yield Manager, data ingestion), ensuring both scalability and reliability.
• Lead, mentor, and develop developers, promoting a culture of accountability, growth, and high performance.
• Manage organizational design within the team, including headcount planning, team structure, hiring processes, and onboarding.
• Hold team members accountable for their performance, addressing underperformance directly and effectively when necessary.
• Design and continuously enhance the systems, processes, and rituals that keep the team aligned, unblocked, and consistently delivering results.
• Set clear development KPIs and ensure the team is accountable for delivery, quality, and velocity metrics.
• Identify and eliminate systemic blockers across products and developers before they escalate into bottlenecks.
• Establish clear ownership and decision-making frameworks to ensure alignment and minimize friction.
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, focusing on code quality, system reliability, scalable architecture, and sound engineering practices.
• Build and sustain relationships with key external partners, vendors, and the broader engineering community.
• Ensure the adoption of modern Go best practices, with an emphasis on performance, concurrency patterns, and microservices architecture.
• Oversee critical infrastructure and migration projects (e.g., Kubernetes, ClickHouse backups), collaborating with engineers to mitigate single points of failure and production risks.
• A minimum of 3 years of professional experience writing production-grade code in Go (Golang).
• Proven technical credibility in constructing and maintaining high-performance, low-latency distributed systems.
• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering, including at least 4 years in leading engineering managers or senior technical leaders.
• Technically credible and capable of earning trust with senior engineers.
• Strong systems thinker, able to design processes, team structures, and feedback loops that endure beyond your tenure.
• Proven ability to build and retain high-performing engineering teams in distributed or remote settings.
• Experience in setting technical strategy for a core platform component, such as a high-volume ad server or data ingestion pipeline.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and making structural decisions with incomplete information.
• Excellent communicator who can bridge the gap between technical depth and executive-level discussions.
• Experience in adtech, martech, or data-intensive platform environments is a significant advantage.
