Engineering Manager, Frontend Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and nurture a team of 3-5 frontend engineers by conducting regular one-on-ones, performance evaluations, and career growth planning. Foster a high-performing and inclusive team culture centered on craftsmanship, autonomy, and accountability.

• Balance technical depth with delivery management to allow engineers to concentrate on their work while ensuring consistent execution and results.

• Participate in hiring, onboarding, and mentorship efforts to enhance Boulevard’s frontend engineering capabilities.

• Spearhead the design and implementation of our modular frontend architecture utilizing Module Federation and Micro Frontends to expedite delivery and manage complexity.

• Lead the transition of our Dashboard from Angular to React, and oversee our web-based hybrid mobile strategy (using CapacitorJS and shared webviews) to achieve complete cross-platform parity.

• Establish and maintain engineering standards for code quality, performance, and developer experience across our frontend landscape.

• Supervise the modernization of our toolchain (including React 19, TypeScript 5, Webpack, MUI 7, etc.), ensuring the development of secure, scalable, and AI-compatible codebases.

• Collaborate with Architecture and Design System teams to advance our component library for mobile optimization and consistency across platforms.

• Lead complex debugging and incident resolution efforts for multi-frontend environments, driving systematic enhancements to prevent future occurrences.

• Work closely with Product, Design, and Backend leaders to define platform-level roadmaps and priorities that support mobile-first, modular experiences.

• Partner with mobile and backend platform colleagues to unify cross-platform architecture, ensuring performance, reliability, and efficient code sharing.

• Articulate the frontend platform strategy to executive stakeholders, translating intricate trade-offs into clear, outcome-oriented narratives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in engineering management or hybrid tech-lead roles.

• Extensive technical knowledge in React, TypeScript, contemporary build systems (Webpack, Vite), and frontend architectural patterns (Module Federation, Micro Frontends, Monorepos).

• Demonstrated ability to guide teams through modernization efforts — upgrading frameworks, decoupling legacy systems, and enhancing developer velocity.

• Strong grasp of web-based hybrid mobile techniques (such as CapacitorJS, Ionic, WebViews) and responsive design for tablets and mobile devices.

• Proven track record of addressing complex system design challenges across multiple teams and applications.

• Exceptional communication skills for engaging both technical and non-technical audiences.

• A passion for mentoring engineers, cultivating culture, and scaling systems and personnel in tandem.
