Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver outcomes, ensure technical quality, and enhance team velocity within a Ruby on Rails and React codebase.

• Collaborate with a dedicated Scrum Master responsible for managing sprint ceremonies and processes.

• Conduct 1:1 meetings, provide performance feedback, support career development, and oversee hiring and retention for 6 full-time employees and 3 full-time contractors.

• Maintain production stability, respond to incidents, ensure deployment pipeline health, and coordinate with the DevOps team.

• Enhance estimation accuracy, minimize cycle times, reinforce code review and QA handoff processes, and establish transparent engineering metrics.

• Partner closely with the VP of Product and the Product team (comprising 2 Senior Product Managers and 1 UX Designer) to convert priorities into well-defined, actionable work.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including a minimum of 2 years in an engineering management or team lead capacity.

• Comfort in working with consumer platforms that feature adult themes, mature content, and dating-related material.

• Strong practical background with Ruby on Rails and contemporary JavaScript frameworks (preferably React).

• Experience in managing teams of 5–15 engineers, including fully remote and distributed teams.

• Proven history of delivering software on predictable schedules in a product-focused environment.

• Experience in managing both full-time staff and contractors as part of a cohesive team.

• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (such as Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) and insights into their impact on engineering workflows.

• Clear and direct communication style; adept at collaborating with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, while holding direct reports accountable for their outcomes.
