This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +18 more states.
• Take ownership of the vision, roadmap, and execution for Identity and Fraud & Risk platforms, encompassing authentication, account lifecycle, identity verification, eligibility, identity graph signals, and fraud detection and prevention.
• Lead and nurture a team of software engineers by setting goals, providing coaching, offering feedback, supporting career development, and fostering an inclusive culture.
• Establish service health objectives, enhance on-call practices, conduct post-incident reviews, and drive remediation efforts for critical platform services.
• Collaborate with Product, Data Science and Machine Learning, Security, Fraud Operations, Legal teams, and external identity vendors on essential business initiatives.
• Define the technical direction for identity modeling, risk signals, unified risk scoring, and fraud-as-a-service frameworks.
• Spearhead AI-driven development practices throughout design, coding, testing, and operations while ensuring safety, privacy, and compliance standards are met.
• Develop the technical strategy for accessing, contracting, and utilizing identity and risk signals across agents, AI systems, and internal platforms.
• Balance the delivery of the roadmap with managing technical debt, ensuring reliability, addressing security concerns, and overseeing defect backlog.
• Represent the Identity Platform in cross-functional planning and leadership discussions.
• Over 7 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership, management, or technical lead capacity.
• Proven experience in building and managing large-scale distributed systems or real-time decision-making platforms in a production environment.
• Strong background in backend or platform engineering, particularly with Go, Java, or Python.
• Hands-on experience with AWS or GCP, and familiarity with modern data storage solutions such as Postgres, DynamoDB, or Redis.
• Experience in managing or guiding engineers through hiring processes, performance evaluations, feedback sessions, coaching, and career progression.
• History of collaboration with Product, Security, Data Science or Machine Learning, Operations, Legal, or Compliance teams.
• Experience in an AI-focused engineering setting, including AI-assisted development, agent-based workflows, or LLM-powered services.
• Capability to delineate the boundaries between human and automated decision-making processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Preferred: experience in trust and safety, identity verification, fraud, risk, or payment systems.
• Preferred: experience handling sensitive identity, account, or payment data while adhering to privacy, security, auditability, and compliance standards.
• Preferred: knowledge of integrating external identity, risk, or verification vendors.
• Preferred: experience in defining vendor SLAs, managing vendor performance, or executing migrations and vendor transitions.
• Preferred: familiarity with experimentation and analytics tools.
• Preferred: experience applying AI or LLM-based methodologies to engineering, detection, identity graph signals, unified risk scoring, or fraud and identity decision-making workflows.
