This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.
• Oversee the architecture, performance, and scalability of our Node.js-based platform, primarily hosted on AWS.
• Take ownership of the platform's technical direction, mentor senior engineers, and collaborate with product and engineering leadership to rapidly deliver high-quality systems.
• Lead a team of 10–15 developers by establishing objectives, conducting one-on-one meetings, fostering career development, hiring talent, and addressing obstacles.
• Maintain a balance between roadmap execution and engineering wellness, focusing on code quality, system reliability, on-call practices, and developer experience.
• A minimum of 8 years of software engineering experience, including over 3 years in a leadership role for engineering teams.
• Extensive knowledge in architecting distributed systems on AWS, covering compute, networking, data, IAM, and observability.
• Strong expertise in Node.js along with a defined perspective on developing maintainable services at scale.
• Experience in creating platform-agnostic systems capable of operating on any major hyperscaler.
• Proven history of enhancing performance, scalability, and deployment speed in production settings.
• Demonstrated success in fostering engineer growth, effective hiring, and leading a consistently productive team.
• Nice to have:
• Familiarity with multi-cloud or cloud-portable deployments (Kubernetes, Terraform, containerization).
• Experience in scaling SaaS platforms or products aimed at developers.
• AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer.
